Thesis and Graduation

Consult the Academic calendar to find out about graduation sessions.

The dissertation consists of a 25–30-page paper written under the guidance of a supervisor on topics related to the disciplines studied during the bachelor's degree. The final dissertation may also be written in a language different than Italian. It is not necessary to have the paperbound.

You can find the title page and printing information for the thesis on the University portal.

The supervisor must be an official professor of the course of study either appointed or under contract to teach the degree discipline or a professor or researcher belonging to the School of Management and Economics and belonging to the scientific disciplinary sector of the degree discipline.

In the case of a contract professor (full professor), the degree discipline must be the one assigned by the contract.

Holders of supplementary activities (tutors) cannot be thesis supervisors.

For bachelor’s degree thesis, the appointment of a co-supervisor is not required.

The discipline of the dissertation must be identified from among those in which the student has acquired the CFUs by passing the examination during the bachelor's degree; this discipline (teaching) must be present in the student's study plan. The teachings (disciplines) belong to a disciplinary scientific field.

The internship cannot be considered as a graduation discipline, the activity carried out during this experience can be a topic about which the student can develop the thesis and must be related to a discipline (teaching) present in the student's study plan.

To choose, please consult the list of Thesis proposals.

To be admitted to the Final Round, the student must apply through the online procedure, within the deadlines set for each graduation session, by accessing MyuniTO.

See the deadline calendar

It is advisable to submit the application for graduation only when no less than 162 CFUs have been taken and passed, even if not yet registered, to be sure of being able to graduate in the session and thus avoid having to renounce and resubmit the application for the following one.

Summer session 2023-2024

Submission deadlines for the Summer session 2023-2024 (in Italian).

Pay attention: the University of Turin plans to change the degree application process and the new method may be applied as early as the autumn session (November 2024). As soon as the methods and application timing are defined, they will be promptly communicated.

Consult the guide that explains step by step how to fill out the application.

Remember that at the end of the procedure you will be asked to enter the following forms:

  • Receipt of the graduation application
  • Thesis title signed by the supervisor
  • AlmaLaurea receipt

The attachment of the above-mentioned forms must be done within the application deadline.

It is furthermore compulsory to attach the receipt for the thesis uploading. The deadline for attaching the receipt is the day after the upload deadline.

In case you need to renounce the graduation session for which you have applied online, you must:

  • notify such renunciation by filling out the relevant form (to be filled out even if the student cancels the application through the online procedure);
  • send the form through the Help Desk service.

Failure to report the cancellation will prevent you the possibility to apply for graduation in the following session.

Remember to resubmit the application again for the following session.

The Athenaeum has activated the "Thesis Online" service that allows you, quickly and easily, to submit your thesis online.

You can access the service and consult all the useful information for uploading your thesis through the dedicated section on the University Portal.

Consult the deadline calendar to find out the deadlines by which to upload your thesis.

Starting from the Summer Session of the AY 2019/20 (July 2020), the scores awarded for the bachelor’s degree will follow the rules included in the Teaching Regulations (AY2020/21), approved on May 29, 2020, as they represent an upgrading over the previous ones.

The undergraduate thesis, for which the oral defence is not expected, will be evaluated by the committee with a score between 0 and 4, after hearing the opinion of the supervisor.

An additional score calculated as follows on the average of the curriculum grades will also contribute to the final evaluation:

1. Increase related to the grade point average

    • average up to 87/110: no increase;
    • average from 88/110 to 92/110: 1-point increase;
    • average from 93/110 to 98/110: 2-points increase;
    • average from 99/110 to 102/110: 4-points increase;
    • average from 103/110 on: 5-points increase.

2. Increase related to graduation in the allotted time

    • summer session (July): 3-point increase;
    • fall session (September and October): 2-points increase;
    • winter session: 1-point increase.

Students who have been enrolled for no more than 3 academic years (full-time enrolment) or 4 academic years (two years of part-time enrolment and two years of full-time enrolment) are eligible for the increase.

The Committees can assign one hundred and ten points; if the final grade is at least 110.5, honours are unanimously granted.

The student's starting score is calculated according to a weighted average, which can be consulted in MyUniTO, in the "booklet" section.

The degree will be conferred by a commission composed of 6 professors from the School, followed by a collective ceremony for each session.

The Commission, unique for all three-year courses of the School of Management and Economics, meeting behind closed doors, determines the grade and compiles the related report.

Discussion and the presence of candidates are not foreseen.

On the day of graduation, the Academic Secretariat sends an email to the institutional address of the new graduates with the proclamation and indication of the graduation grade.

Starting from the day after the date of obtaining the degree, all graduates will be able to download and print the degree certificate from their own MyUniTO page, useful for the purposes allowed by law.

For students enrolled at the detached locations, the collective ceremony will take place at the detached location.
The dates and methods of access to the Proclamation Ceremonies are published on the website of the School of Management and Economics on the page "Proclamations and Discussions of Graduation".
